IAG Group Project - Civil War Anthology

April 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the American Civil War - a bitterly fought war that tore apart the United States, and left wounds which are still healing. Writer-members of the IAG have decided on an ambitious joint project - an anthology of short stories, dramatizing the human aspects of that war, which will be published by Strider-Nolan, and released in the spring of 2011. Profits made after expenses will be donated to a suitable Civil War-connected charity or fund, to be decided upon at a later date.

The tentative timeline for the submission deadline to be mid-March. The editorial committee will have final selections made by April. The editing should be completed by August, with formatting and design accomplished so that advance review copies can go out in September 2010. Given six months to get reviews, the anthology (title still unspecified!) will be released in Spring, 2011. Jack Shakely, Janet Elaine Smith, Mike Katz and Celia Hayes have agreed to be on the selection committee.

In the Yahoo Group files, there is now a folder for short story submissions, poems and short essays to be uploaded for consideration.
